Overview

Holland's springtime colours

Enjoy the best of Holland’s springtime colours and scents on this tremendous value break, taking in vibrant Dutch capital Amsterdam and the country's political epicentre, The Hauge. Visit one of the world’s most famous flower gardens – the magnificent Keukenhof. This wonderful springtime break also includes the chance to spend time in the delightful Dutch capital, Amsterdam, with its canals, museums and cafés, and visits to the picturesque villages of the reclaimed Zuiderzee and The Netherlands' third city, The Hague. An included canal cruise around Amsterdam – one of the best ways to see the city's sights – will be just one of the highlights of your trip, while a day spent at world-renowned Keukenhof, where millions of flowers carpet the ground in a breathtaking horticultural display that attracts visitors from around the world, promises extraordinary sights which must be seen to be believed! Complete the fun-filled few days with visits to the delightful villages of the windmill-dotted landscape surrounding the reclaimed Zuiderzee, including fishing port Volendam, with its traditional clog makers, and finally take in The Hague, a famed international hub on the Dutch west-coast.  This popular tour is selling fast! Alternatively, for a convenient and comfortable journey, consider our Eurostar option, providing a seamless and scenic ride to this picturesque destination.

Itinerary

  • Fly to Amsterdam, meet your tour manager and transfer to the colourful Dutch capital.  Set out on an included canal cruise - which is sure to be a highlight of your visit - before enjoying a small amount of free time exploring the cobblestone streets and winding canals of this exciting city.  In the afternoon, continue to central Rotterdam and your hotel.
  • A wonderful day awaits you today. After breakfast at your hotel, you'll board the coach to begin the journey to the gardens at Keukenhof. Here some seven million flowers carpet the ground in a breath-taking horticultural display that attracts visitors from around the world each year. Wander the pathways that meander through this floral paradise, perhaps stopping in one of the gardens’ restaurants and cafes for lunch. You can even take an optional canal boat ride (payable locally) along the waterways that thread their way through the stunning gardens before returning to your hotel for dinner this evening.
  • The delightful villages of Holland's windmill-dotted landscape and the reclaimed Zuider Zee form the background to this morning’s tour. Stroll the pretty streets of the historic fishing village of Volendam – once trodden by the likes of Picasso and Renoir – and catch a glimpse of Dutch life through the ages in its preserved traditional houses. You’ll also enjoy behind-the-scenes insights into one of Holland’s most celebrated crafts with a wooden shoemaking demonstration, and cheese-tasting session, at a traditional local business (typically a working farm).  Later this afternoon you’ll return to your hotel to relax, freshen up and have dinner in the surrounding area.
  • After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll depart your hotel and travel a short distance to The Hague, a northern coastal city and the country’s administrative and political centre. As it’s home to an assortment of historical buildings and museums, as well as a charming old town and beautiful beaches, there’s no shortage of things to see and do. Following time in the historical centre there will be time to enjoy the beach with its famous pier and selection of restaurants and shops. Later in the day, you’ll return to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to catch the flight back to the UK.
