Perhaps have an ice-cold Frappe while watching the cricket in Corfu Town or take selfies next to the leaning tower of Pisa. Admire the magnificent views from the edge of the Santorini Caldera and speculate on the lost city of Atlantis. Or simply relax and soak up the sun on the beaches of Mykonos. There is something to suit everyone on these itinerary rich summer sun cruises to make the pounds in your pocket go much further.

Itinerary

  • Fly from the UK to Rome for an overnight hotel stay
  • A further overnight hotel stay. The Coliseum, The Roman Forum and the Trevi Fountain will give you an immediate introduction to the layers of history to be found in Rome and are all within walking distance of each other. The Pantheon is absolutely awe inspiring dating back to 27 BC and is the only complete structure from the Roman Empire still standing.
  • Make your own way from your Rome hotel to Civitavecchia port- the most economical, quickest and convenient way is by train from the nearby Train Terminii station costing approximately eight euros per person. Embark the ship and enjoy the sail-away party.
  • Relax and make the most of the myriad of facilities available on board the ship, from fantastic entertainment to delicious and diverse dining options.
  • The most popular port of call on any cruise itinerary is the photographer's paradise of Santorini. This volcanic island is made up of a crescent shaped Caldera which is the edge of an ancient volcano. Ancient legend suggests that this was the site of the lost city of Atlantis - when the volcano erupted the centre of this island disappeared in to the sea leaving the remnant known as Santorini.
  • Athens received a make-over for the 2004 Olympics. There is lots to see here such as the Acropolis, Parthenon, Temple of Poseidon and Athena, Odeon Herodus of Atticus and the Theatre of Dionysos.
  • Mykonos (part of the Cyclades chain of Islands) is also frequently visited by many cruise ships for its Greek charm and upmarket cosmopolitan atmosphere - plus there are some excellent beaches.
  • Corfu is the birth place of Prince Philip at the Palace of Mon Repos. The Achilleon Palace is home to the statue of Achilles Heel and was where Kaiser Wilhelm declared World War I. Corfu Town is the largest medieval town in Greece and an absolute pleasure to walk around , perhaps watch some cricket in the square or sample the excellent local cuisine. Try the local Kumquat liquor or simply watch the world go by with an ice cold Frappe.
  • The home of the Maltese Cross and the last bastion of the crusades.
  • Messina in Sicily- Is situated just three miles from the mainland under the shadow of Mount Etna. Perhaps visit picturesque Taormina with its hilltop Saracen Castle and the Ancient Greek Ampitheatre.
  • Most people head for the ancient Roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius or scoot across the bay to the island of Capri.
  • Approximately 30-minutes from the port lies the ancient city of Pisa with its famous leaning tower. Then it's on to Florence - a renaissance treasure founded in the 16th century. Visit the main cathedral Il Duomo Di Firenze started in 1296 and completed in 1436, the Uffizi Gallery and the unique Ponte Vecchio (bridge) lined with gold and silver merchants.
  • Disembark the ship in Civitavecchia port and transfer to Rome airport for your flight home to the UK.

Ship Information

Cruise Overview
Entertainment and choice are the key features on Norwegian Epic - one of the largest ships of the Norwegian Cruise Lines fleet at 153,000 tonnes. This amazing one-of-a-kind ship was launched in June 2010 and is simply bursting with restaurants and entertainment venues which make it a cruise 'Must' for a fun packed sunshine holiday.
Cabin Details
Norwegian Epic staterooms have a revolutionary design. The ship features single studios for single travellers (double beds) located in a private key-card access complex and exclusive access to the Studio Lounge. Couples and families can choose from interior & Balcony staterooms, mini-suites and Courtyard Villas. The majority of staterooms on board are balcony staterooms with an unusual space saving curved design. Also unique to this ship are the bathroom facilities in each stateroom- there is not a separate bathroom as such but rather a bathroom area which you walk through to gain access to the sleeping area of your stateroom.
Dining Details
If you love food, then you will enjoy the 21 dining choices on board including entertainment while you dine with a Cirque Dreams show in the Spiegel Tent or by the live band in The Manhattan Room. Cagney's Steakhouse and Moderno Churrascaria offer a choice between traditional steaks or a Brazil- style buffet bar-b-que. Try La Cucina for Italian, Le Bistro for French and Teppanyaki for Asian fusion hotplate table cooking.
Activities Details
Night-Owls will be spoilt for choice with 20 bars and lounges on board including an ice bar - where you are issued with thermal wear before you enter; The Bliss Ultra Lounge - is a very different nightclub concept that is dark and mysterious; while on the top deck Spice H20 is an adult's only, Ibiza style party venue where the pool converts to a dance floor at night. The theatre features wonderful musical productions including Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Jersey Boys. Have a laugh at the Headliners Comedy Club or visit the Fat Cats Jazz Club among many more. The Aqua Park offers three amazing waterslides, there is a rock-climbing wall, an abseiling wall, a spider web climb, and a bungee trampoline. Mandara Spa is one of the biggest spas we have seen afloat with a wonderful hydro-therapy pool and there is the huge Pulse Fitness Centre next door. There is also a bowling alley, theatre, casino, cinema, and kid's clubs on board.
