Itinerary
- From a morning pickup in your local area we travel by coach to our hotel in time for dinner and our first night’s stay.
- Following breakfast at the hotel, we head to Didcot, a historic railway town renowned for its rich railway heritage and home to the Didcot Railway Centre. The Didcot Railway Centre is a living museum of the Great Western Railway, where visitors can explore a unique collection of steam engines, coaches, wagons and buildings. The museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of railways, with interactive exhibits, demonstrations and train rides that transport visitors back to the golden age of steam travel. This must-see museum also includes the towering Coal Stage, the Broad Gauge and Transfer Shed and much more. During the day we board our train behind the magnificent locomotive the Flying Scotsman or its rival, the historic Pendennis Castle. Known for its speed and power, the Pendennis Castle played a significant role in hauling express passenger trains. It has a rich history, having been preserved and restored multiple times, and remains a beloved icon of British railway heritage. Please note: it is not possible to book a specific time to ride behind Flying Scotsman or Pendennis Castle. Both locomotives will be hauling passengers throughout the day and passengers can travel on a first come, first served basis.
- After breakfast, we check out of the hotel re-joining the coach for the journey home.
