Essaouira

This unspoilt port city provides a welcome break from Morocco’s more manic destinations. Meander down the perfectly preserved streets and whitewashed houses to the lively harbour.

Here, you can visit one of the market places for fresh produce, relax on the beach, eat delicious seafood or simply watch the fisherman at work, repairing their nets as they have done for centuries.

It’s a testament to Essaouira that musical geniuses Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix used to unwind here in the 1960s.
